BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES – EQUINE STUDIES CONCENTRATION

Students in the Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences – Equine Studies concentration will be enrolled in pre-med pre-requisites that can prepare you for admission to graduate programs in Veterinarian Medicine. Students are offered the well-rounded educational opportunities necessary to be successful in the equine industry.  Along with the necessary pre-vet curriculum, the concentration offers students the opportunity to develop hands-on experience in handling horses, understanding their genetic composition, equine nutrition, health and disease monitoring, and a plethora of management and training opportunities.  Students selecting the Equine Studies concentration will apply their education in shadowing equine professionals such as veterinarians, farriers, and trainers during their internship courses.

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION – EQUINE STUDIES CONCENTRATION

Keiser University’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration focuses on a more in-depth study of the functional areas of business, communication skills, ethical business practices and technology skills needed in today’s global business environment. Students in the Equine Studies concentration will be prepared to start a career in event management, barn management, tack shop management, equine training, operating and managing their own showing and boarding facility, employment in the Thoroughbred racing industry, and many more.

Riding

The Equine Studies concentration courses will incorporate riding (time under saddle) as well as ground work. Keiser University’s riding program will be held at our facility located at 2650 A Road in Loxahatchee Groves. This facility features a 20-stall barn complete with wash racks, tack room, and grooming stalls and is close to the Wellington show grounds. Practices for hunt seat and dressage will be held in two separate arenas. Students in both equine academic concentrations will have classes at both Keiser Flagship Campus and the equestrian facility. The facility allows a complete education for the students in the equine curriculum, including event management, facility operations, riding and showing, equine nutrition, hands-on opportunities with basic and advanced horse care.

Keiser University offers an Equestrian team that is open to all Flagship campus students. Members of the Equestrian team will be exposed to riding lessons as well as local competitions. Keiser University is a proud member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
