Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy prepares students for a career as a respiratory therapist under the supervision of a licensed physician. Respiratory therapists provide education, diagnostic testing and respiratory therapy in the management of conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, acute cardio-respiratory failure, asthma, and other pulmonary pathologies.
In this associate program, students will identify lung and breathing disorders and recommend treatment methods, interview patients and conduct chest physical exams to determine which kind of therapy is best for their condition, and consult with physicians to recommend a change in therapy based on patient evaluation. Additionally, students will learn to respond to Code Blue or other urgent calls for care and educate patients and families about lung diseases, so they can maximize their recovery.
Keiser offers small classes for more personalized learning, one course at a time. In addition to in-person instruction at convenient campus locations near you, most general education classes may be taken online to fit your degree more flexibly into your life.
