Program Overview

The Associate of Science in Histotechnology degree at Keiser University provides students with practical, hands-on education that prepares them for entry-level employment in the growing field of histotechnology. A histotechnician works within medical laboratory settings to collect and prepare human tissue for diagnostic examination. Keiser’s Histotechnology program is designed to foster a commitment to patient care and teach students how to work as health care professionals.

Program Objectives

The Associate of Science in Histotechnology program provides comprehensive training in histotechnology through classroom lectures as well as extensive, hands-on clinical and laboratory experience. You will learn how to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic exams. You will also study chemical composition, cellular morphology and normal and abnormal tissue, and gain a thorough understanding of tissue composition and the composition of dyes and chemicals.

Graduates are prepared to sit for the national certification examination administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology and are eligible to be licensed by the State of Florida to practice Histology.
