Your Equine Studies Programs
Turn your passion for horses into a professional career. Keiser University offers two distinct bachelor’s degrees—Biomedical Sciences or Business Administration—each with a concentration in Equine Studies, giving you a clear path whether you aspire to become a veterinarian or manage a top equine business.
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences – Equine Studies
Designed for students interested in veterinary or animal health careers, this concentration blends pre-vet coursework with hands-on equine experience:
- Study equine genetics, nutrition, health, and disease management
- Complete pre-med prerequisites to prepare for veterinary graduate programs
- Gain real-world experience by shadowing veterinarians, farriers, and trainers during internships
Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration – Equine Studies
Ideal for students pursuing careers in the equine business world, from barn management to event operations:
- Build a strong foundation in business, marketing, and communication
- Prepare to lead in equine event planning, sales, and management roles
- Explore careers in tack shop management, training, racing, or owning and operating a facility
Riding and Internships
Students in both concentrations gain saddle time and ground training at Keiser’s equestrian facility in Loxahatchee Groves. With two arenas and a full-service barn, the location supports all aspects of equine education—from riding and showing to facility management.
Our partnership with Florida TRAC provides students with a well-rounded equine experience, working with over 150 horses of all ages. The facility features three 14-stall barns and more than 100 acres of turnout pastures, offering hands-on learning alongside veterinarians, farriers, trainers, and grooms.
Keiser University offers an Equestrian team that is open to all Flagship campus students. Members of the Equestrian team will be exposed to riding lessons as well as local competitions. Keiser University is a proud member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
Career Pathways
Depending on your choice of concentration, graduates are prepared for careers in both the veterinary and business sides of the equine industry, including roles such as:
- Facility manager
- Equine nutritionist
- Equine business owner or entrepreneur
- Equine veterinary assistant or technician
- Trainer, instructor, or riding program leader
