About This Program

Online coursework with just four weekend residencies. Contact Keiser University for information on clinical experiences and residency requirements.

Keiser University’s Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is designed to provide you with the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills you need to improve the lives of others and prepare for a variety of clinical, managerial, and administrative positions in the mental health field. The curriculum offers an in-depth examination of diverse counseling theories and approaches, principles and practices of diagnosis, evidence-based treatments, and how to treat individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Our curriculum provides in-person skill development that enables you to gain experience through residencies, internships, and fieldwork. In the final year with help from their clinical coordinator, students choose their practicum and internships to obtain necessary clinical experiences required for state licensure. Students have the option of full-or-part-time enrollment. Graduates are eligible to take the National Counseling Exam (NCE) and apply for state licensure as a mental health counselor.*

*Students should check with their state licensing boards to determine what requirements are necessary to obtain future licensure and to plan for meeting those requirements, if any.
