Your Occupational Therapy Assistant Program

Occupational therapy is a health profession that provides services to individuals affected by developmental, physical, emotional or social disabilities and helps them achieve maximum independence. If you are a creative and caring individual who likes working with others, consider a career as an occupational therapy assistant. The Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Keiser University prepares students for employment in this growing field.

An occupational therapy assistant (OTA) works under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist to help people of all ages enhance their performance of important everyday activities such as work, education and self-care despite the effects of illness, disability or injury. OTAs interact with clients to assess existing performance, set therapeutic goals, develop a plan and implement intervention. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) OTA certification exam.

What Our Students Are Saying

“What drew me to Keiser was that they were super flexible. I was a new mom, I was a little unsure about going back to school in my late 20s and they really just make it super accommodating and comfortable jumping back into it. The faculty and staff here truly have an open-door policy. Everybody has made it super easy to reach out if there are questions, or a problem or concern. I feel like I can go to anybody for help.”

Keiser University Occupational Therapy Assistant Graduate

Keiser University was, hands down, the perfect place for me to pursue my degree in Occupational Therapy. The smaller class sizes, coupled with the attentiveness and accessibility of the instructors, gave me the most thorough and qualified education possible. Outside of the classroom, the internships offered through Keiser afforded me the opportunity to build rapport within the therapy community and effectively network, which was no doubt the reason I was able to become immediately employed post-graduation despite the challenging job market. Ultimately, while being educated at Keiser, I absolutely fell in love with being a therapist, which is something that will fuel my career to the very end, and I am forever grateful.
